Jim Robertshaw

Tuesday May 3rd - Monday 30th May
Generally, very little happens in my paintings: empty streets, solitary buildings and details of decaying sheds or boats fill the canvas.
Stillness is a key element, that and a sense of time either standing still or having passed by. The feeling of melancholy that emanates from things neglected or rarely used is a great part of the appeal, and, to me, a piece of rusty junk will have its fair share of beauty in the shapes and textures that it possesses.
